Salt Springs Park
This feasibility study in combination with the
already existing Salt Springs State Park Resource Management Plan accomplishes
the mission of identifying realistic opportunities and constraints for
accessibility to Fall Brook Gorge for people with special needs. This provides
The Friends of Salt Springs Park, Inc. with the necessary resources to obtain
additional funds to implement design. An east side access to the Fall Brook
Gorge was identified. This allows visitors the experience of the park's central
attractions. Salt Springs State Park consists of well-preserved structures on
approximately 400 acres, and contains a tract of old-growth eastern hemlock
forest, salt and methane springs, and a series of beautiful waterfalls as Fall
Brook flows down the gorge. Design concept emphasizes site sustainability with
minimal disturbance to the natural surroundings. Final report describes the use
of in-kind services to offset grant funds, and provides additional funding
sources for implementation. |
