A thematic neighborhood master plan study entitled
Oak Hill Improvement District: "Little Italy" Neighborhood Design Study and
Plan, which embraces the NorthsideÕs Italian-American heritage and enhances the
neighborhood character with traditional architectural and streetscape elements.
Design guidelines prepared to guide redevelopment efforts toward an attractive
and viable commercial district within the Susquehanna Heritage Park. Market
studies and visioning sessions were prepared to understand the peopleÕs desires
and feasibility of supporting a marketplace venue for tourism and events.
Extensive coordination with the Steering Committee, Town and Village
officials, and public utility have produced economic support for the first phase
of improvements. The adjacent Economic Development Zone is proposed to expand
to include the core block of Oak Hill Avenue and CDBG funds have been designated
toward park improvements.
The report includes design concepts for building facades and streetscape
