Denison Parkway
A comprehensive analysis and redesign of a 10
block section of commercially developed state highway (Rte 17) passing through
Corning, NY. Goal of the project is to create an urban parkway through
provisions of landscaping, pedestrian circulation improvements, and other visual
and physical enhancements, ultimatly creating a setting to foster quality
redevelopment efforts and a "user-friendly" atmosphere.
Thorough analysis of existing conditions and proposed developments was
conducted. Extensive coordination with City agencies, NYSDOT, and NYSEG
required to make for a doable plan.
Final report included Implementation Strategies for the elements within the
development program. Costs and Maintenance concerns and recommendations were
targeted toward responsible agencies. Workshops and formal presentations were
facilitated for the Streetscape Design Committee.
Project implementation (Phase I) completed 1999. Much private initiative
following the plan has occurred in recent years. Project team included Young
Associates of Greene, NY. Michael Haas (HLA) was project manager. |
