I-86 Corridor
Conceptual redevelopment master plan of a highly
visible and accessible commercial/industrial corridor along I-86. Project
prepared to give neighboring NY/PA communities the potential to tap tourism and
travel markets, and services to local commuting public, in a manner that
preserves visual character and enhances the tax base.
Nearly 17acres of relatively inaccessible land in a congested area was made
available through design and planning strategies. Concept plans and simulations
developed to aid in visualizing the recommendations.
Driving the process was the need for Leprino Foods Inc. to expand their
facilities and consume a local connecting road. Road ultimately was realigned
with future greenway easement and park-and-ride component.
Uniformity of zoning regulations along the boundary between two communities
was encouraged. Numerous public meetings were facilitated to gain public
trrust and consensus.
Seven broader areas of influence were also reviewed with recommendations
made to encourage revitalization. |
