Binghamton River Trails

HAAS Landscape Architects, as the prime consultant, led a qualified team of archaeologists, biologists, environmental and structural engineers, traffic engineers, and landscape architects on a multi-phased urban river trail project through downtown Binghamton. The overall master plan study had been paralleled by the preparation of three segments for construction. The following segments are now complete:
  • Confluence Park
  • Chenango River Promenade and Bikeway P-2A
  • Chenango River Promenade P-2B.
Permitting and agency reviews were carefully orchestrated to maintain the schedule to bid and construct two contiguous phases. In addition, HLA was instrumental in assisting the City of Binghamton with funding, netting over $2 million in grants to implement the trails. River connections between major City and County Park resources was one goal. The fourth phase proposed in the master plan was recently funded through a TEP Enhancement Program Grant, fulfilling yet another link in the system. The City continues to support the trail development through its River Trail Commission and popular River Crawl.
